Previous CID Director Shani Abeysekera separated while giving proof before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the 21 April 2019, Easter Sunday bombings, on Tuesday (26). 

He said albeit the National Police Commission had suggested paying portion of his compensation after suspension, that proposal hasn't been executed. 

"I didn't procure even a penny notwithstanding my compensation. I worked for guiltless individuals, however today it has gotten unthinkable for my better half and two kids to go down the road," he said. 

Abeysekera said some Media outlets had spread bogus data about him and in spite of the fact that he had not done anything incorrectly, his name had been discolored because of such wrong reports. 

He is accepting treatment at Ward 42 of the National Hospital and gave proof by means of Skype. The Commission additionally thought about his condition and allowed him an opportunity to rest during the sitting. The Commission addressed Abeysekera with respect to the giving over of case things discovered during the examination concerning the Easter Sunday bombings to unfamiliar insight offices and examination groups. 

Accordingly, he said, "Unfamiliar insight offices and some different groups showed up in Sri Lanka to aid the examination concerning the Easter Sunday bombings. They requested a chance to investigate the case material found close to the locales of bombings, yet I eagerly restricted it." 

He further said the Colombo Chief Magistrate at that point called the officials of the unfamiliar knowledge organizations and examination groups and the authorities of the Ministry of External Affairs and recorded articulations from them. He further expressed that albeit Chief Inspector of the CID, Lalitha Dissanayake, had recently affirmed before the Commission and said that the things had been given over to the unfamiliar insight organizations on his (Abeysekera's) guidelines, this isn't accurate.
